Lux Cantorum Chicago enriches Chicago's choral landscape by sharing musical traditions and elevating experiences that shift our perspective. Our grant program aims to further our mission by welcoming talented singers from across our region into our artistic community, nurturing their musicianship, and alleviating potential financial burdens. 

Eligibility 
We invite singers for whom one or more of the following applies: 

  • Are students (high school seniors through graduate level)

  • Face financial barriers to participation 

  • Bring cultural perspectives or experiences that are often underrepresented in the choral music community 

  • Are new to the Chicago area 

  • Have limited access to choral music participation 

Grant Coverage 

  • Two full seasons of membership fees ($340 value) 

  • Music materials  

  • Additional stipend up to $1000 annually based on need 

  • 1-4 scholarships awarded per season  

Requirements 

  • Meet eligibility criteria 

  • Score 93+ in audition 

  • Maintain attendance and performance requirements 

  • Work with assigned choir mentor

  2. A personal statement (300-500 words) 

  3. Schedule and complete your choir audition 

Confidentiality: Grant applications are confidential and reviewed only by the adjudicating committee. Application status will not be disclosed without explicit permission from the applicant.
